LinQup uses USDC and USDCx tokens on the Polygon network. This guide explains what they are and how to use them.

USDC - Your Money

What: Stablecoin pegged to US Dollar

Why we use it:

• Always worth $1 (no volatility)
• Widely available
• Trusted and audited
• Easy to understand

How to get USDC →

USDCx - Streaming Version

What: "Super Token" version of USDC for streaming

Why we need it:

• Enables continuous payment streaming
• Still worth $1 (pegged to USDC)
• Convert back anytime (1:1)

MATIC - Gas Fees

What: Polygon network's native token

Why you need it:

• Pay for transaction fees
• Very cheap (~$0.01 per transaction)
• Need tiny amount ($0.50 worth)

How They Work Together

For Supporters

1. Get USDC on Polygon
2. Convert USDC → USDCx (in widget)
3. Stream USDCx to creators
4. Pay gas with MATIC

For Creators

1. Receive USDCx from supporters
2. Convert USDCx → USDC (if desired)
3. Withdraw USDC to exchange/bank
4. Pay gas with MATIC

Common Questions

Why not just use regular crypto?

Problem with BTC/ETH:

• Price changes every minute
• $10 subscription could become $5 or $15 tomorrow
• Too volatile for recurring payments

Solution: Stablecoins

• $10 stays $10
• Predictable for both parties

Why USDC specifically?

• Most trusted stablecoin
• Fully backed by USD reserves
• Widely available on exchanges
• Works on Polygon (low fees)

Why Polygon network?

Compared to Ethereum:

• 1000x cheaper fees ($0.01 vs $10)
• Faster transactions (2s vs 15s)
• Same security (Ethereum-backed)

Can I use other stablecoins?

Currently LinQup only supports USDC. Other tokens may be added later.

What's the difference between USDC on Ethereum vs Polygon?

Same token, different networks:

• Ethereum USDC: High gas fees ($5-20)
• Polygon USDC: Low gas fees ($0.01)

You can bridge between them.
